Erectile dysfunction medicines took in Glengormley

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A male was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines by means of the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be unsafe.

"These kinds of products being offered, usually online, have actually gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their .

"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
